The performance at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium became a defining moment in popular music. Jackson performed Billie Jean before introducing audiences to the Moonwalk, a dance move that would become one of the most recognisable elements of his stage persona.
Wearing a black sequined jacket, a silver sequined shirt, a single embellished glove and black leather Florsheim loafers, Jackson delivered a performance that helped establish his position as a global solo superstar.
Julien’s Auctions described the performance as a breakthrough moment, noting that its choreography, from the opening pose to the Moonwalk during the song’s bridge, became a blueprint for his subsequent live performances.
The glove has since become one of the most coveted pieces of Jackson memorabilia, representing the intersection of music, fashion, dance and entertainment history.
Julien’s Auctions Co Founder and Executive Director Martin Nolan said the company was privileged to offer the historic items again, pointing to its previous record setting sales of the Thriller jacket in 2011 and the Motown 25 glove in 2009.The Legendary Thriller Jacket
