Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has postponed his expected arrival in Chile to complete his move to Colo Colo, with the club confirming that personal matters and immigration procedures are behind the delay.
The veteran shot stopper, whose remarkable performances helped power Cape Verde to one of the most memorable World Cup campaigns in recent history, was due to arrive in Chile on Thursday after Colo Colo announced his signing last week.
However, the delay quickly sparked speculation across South American media, with reports suggesting the 40 year old goalkeeper could also be attracting interest from Moroccan side RS Berkane.
Colo Colo sporting director Jaime Pizarro moved to calm the rumours, explaining that the club had granted Vozinha additional time to resolve personal commitments before travelling.
“An additional period has been requested to resolve some personal matters and we will surely have news soon regarding his travel schedule,” Pizarro told reporters.
He added that immigration related procedures were also contributing to the delay and said the Chilean giants were fully supportive of the goalkeeper’s request to attend to his personal responsibilities before joining the squad.
Despite the temporary setback, there has been no indication from Colo Colo that the transfer is in jeopardy.
